3 Ways to Prevent ACL Injuries

ACL injuries are very common, especially in women. Whether you are a runner, skier, basketball player, or otherwise it is important that you know what you can do to help prevent ACL injuries. There is no sure way to prevent any injury, but these tips can help reduce the risk of ACL injury.

Stretching-

Be sure to keep your muscles limber. This allows your bones and joints to work the way that they are meant to. Stretch every part of your body, focusing on your leg muscles, especially those that are tight.

Strengthening-

Again, focus on strengthening your lower body as this can help reduce the risk of ACL injury. Some good exercises to do are squats, lunges and leg deadlifts.

Mechanics-

Learn how to jump and land safely and correctly. Other areas to practice are planting and pivoting. If mechanics are misused, it could result in injury.
